If variety is the spice of life, our clients provided us with an abundance of flavor in 2020! Our work not only spanned multiple industries; it took us to diverse locations around the globe and the galaxy. Well, not quite, but we did engineer and fabricate a complete 880-ton strand jack system for NASA. The system integrated 220-ton strand jacks, power packs, strand guides and strand recoilers into an easy-to-maneuver package. Across the country and around the globe, ER served its customers with innovative solutions.
In the Hoosier state, home of our headquarters, we developed the Cantilever Segmented Bridge Lift for the Cline Avenue Bridge in East Chicago and helped a logistics client revitalize a conveyer facility without removing a roof to use a traditional crane. Instead, we provided four self-propelled knuckle-boom cranes which moved along a self-erecting track utilizing the facility's existing steel members. We saved our client time and resources by attaching a man-basket to the knuckle-boom system, avoiding the time-consuming need to erect scaffolding. We provided a rigging and lifting equipment solution for a challenging fully-supported elevated 110-foot conveyor weighing 138 tons in Ottumwa, Iowa. Our team also engineered and design-built specialty crane fixtures to supply a series of knuckle-boom cranes for a decommissioning project at a power plant in California. ER provided training and technical assistance for a thruster assembly project on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and assisted in erecting one of the world's largest offshore oil platforms in Indonesia by providing custom-fabricated equipment, engineering services, installation paths and on-site technical assistance. Engineered Rigging was proud to serve as a trusted partner to these clients and many others during the past year. We’re excited to embrace new opportunities around the globe in the year ahead. Perhaps we can play a role in your project? Let’s talk!

Getting to Know Carlo Karssen

EU Equipment Rentals & Sales

As an intern at Hydrospex in 2002, Carlo realized he had found a lifelong home in the heavy lifting industry. Nearly 20 years later, he continues to have great passion for his work. The best part of his job? Collaborating with the ER team to develop a solution that’s never been done before and seeing it brought to life on a job site. When he’s not solving logistical challenges, Carlo loves racing (anything with an engine!) and spending time with his family in The Netherlands. He loves food (his favorite is steak), but he confesses that he’s a horrible cook!
