Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs)

The heavy-duty, modular design of Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) support the largest and heaviest loads. The rotating wheel assemblies enable the trailers to move forward, backward and sideways with optimized control and traction which makes our SPMTs ideal for challenging routes. An onboard power source eliminates power cords so the trailer can rotate 360 degrees without changing its midpoint. The SPMT’s cylinders act as a suspension to absorb the unevenness of the ground and function to lift and level during travel. Multiple trailers can be linked in a variety of configurations (side-by-side and tandem) to manage larger loads. Our in-house engineering team can assist in determining the optimal configuration for your specific needs. Engineered Rigging rents and sells Goldhofer E-Steer SPMT models with 4 or 6 axles.

SPMT Applications

Our rugged SPMTs can be used indoors or outside to transport heavy loads of all types. Multiple trailers can be configured side-by-side or in tandem to accommodate heavy or large loads. Read our case study on how a SPMT was used to transport new locomotives through a busy port to a Hydraulic Gantry to lift them onto the rails.
