Strand Jack Systems

Strand Jack Systems provide precise synchronous control of heavy loads in an economical, reliable and compact footprint with capacities from 17 to 1,405 tons per jack. They are often used when a conventional crane is not practical or economical. Up to 60 strand jacks can be simultaneously controlled remotely by a single operator which optimizes safety and productivity. Power is supplied by electric hydraulic power packs. Engineered Rigging has a large fleet of Enerpac Strand Jacks available for rental and we sell all current Enerpac models. Let our team of experts help configure a system for your specific application.

How Does a Strand Jack Work?

A Strand Jack is a linear winch in which a bundle of steel strands moves through a main lifting jack. Above and below the cylinder are anchor systems with wedges that grip the strand bundle simultaneously. Lifting and lowering a load is achieved by hydraulically controlling the main jack and two mini jacks (at the top and bottom) alternately. If the system loses pressure, the wedges automatically close, mechanically locking the load in place. This safety features eliminates the dangers associated with the suspended loads of cranes.
